Communicating with Other Users
Creating and administering a message board
Example:
You are an antique furniture collector and you would like to share your knowledge with other people who share your interest. For example, you want to be able to exchange information with them about where to get the best doll furniture that was built between 1892 and 1897.
Safe-mail offers you the Message Board function that can serve that purpose.

How?
Click the Create Board button to create a new message board.
Fill in the name of the message board, its description, and other general information.
If you want to invite open participation check the "Allow reader access to any registered user" option.
Or you may restrict reader access to certain people by clicking "Restrict reader access to" and filling in their names.
If you want to invite any person to post messages check the "Allow writing access to any registered user" option.
Or you may fill in the user names of the people who share your interest and to whom you wish to grant writing access.
Click the Create button to complete your setup. You can change your definitions anytime by clicking the message board name and clicking the Settings tab.
Joining a message board of your interest
Example:
You would like to become a member of a message board about the science of seat belts.
You can create a new message board and administrate it, or you can search existing message boards for the word "science," "seat-belts," or "inertia." Once you find a message board that suits your needs you can create your own favorites list and visit posts of your choice on a regular basis. You can modify this list at any time.
Note: A creator of a message board may restrict access to it to a closed group of people. You will be able to access only those message boards whose creators allow you either full or partial access.

How?
Type a keyword in the Find section and click Go.
You can also define a more specified search by clicking Advanced Find. There you will be able to search for bulletin boards by name, creator, or date.
To add a message board to your favorites list, check the box beside it and click the Add to my favorites button.
To look at a specific message board, click its name.
To read a message click its topic.
To add your comment to the message click the comment button, type your comments in the text area and click the send button.
To post a new message click the New Topic tab, type your message in the text area, fill in a subject (optional) and click the send button.
Example:
Want to talk to another user currently logged in to Safe-mail system? You can make an 'appointment' with a registered user and fix a date and a time for a serious talk.
Want talk to other Safe-mail users sharing your interests? you can join a chat room of your choice or create your own chat room and invite other users to join in.

How?
Fill in the names of the users you would like to talk with in the 'Call the following users' field.
Another way to start a chat is by searching among currently logged in users.
Click the 'Call' button.
The recipient will see a prompt on his screen that you are calling him, he may accept the call or not.
If he accepts, both you and the call receiver will enjoy a horizontally split text screen in which you type messages in the top screen and see the return message in the lower screen.
To post a message, type it in the text area and click the 'Post' button.
To disconnect, click the 'Hang up' button.
To join a public chat room, click the 'Public rooms' tab at the above menu.
To add a chat room to your favrite list, check the box of the desired chat room and click the 'Add to my fav.' button.

To disconnect, click the 'Hang up' button..
To view the transcript of a talk or a chat room session, click the 'View transcript' link.
To save the transcript of the talk session, click the 'Save transcript' link.
To search for a live chat room, click the 'Live rooms search' tab at the above menu.
To create a chat room, click the 'Create a chat room' tab at the above menu.
Fill in the room name and its subject.
If you would like to invite specific users, fill their user names in the box.
You may allow access to any registered Safe-mail user by checking the box beside this option.
You may restrict the access to specific users by filling their user names in the first box or to users authenticated by specific users whose names should be filled in the second box.
Check the 'Save Room definitions' box.
Click the 'Create' button.
The room you created will appear in the table above, to activate your room, click its name. Only active chat-rooms can be found by other users using the 'search' function.
To edit room definitions, click its subject.
To delete a chat room, check its box and click the 'Remove' button.
Getting to know other Safe-mail users
Example:
You want to learn about other Safe-mail users, find out who is currently logged in and get their contact information.

How?
To search for a specific user name, highlight the is option in the popup menu and type the full name in the box.
If you want to search for a name which you know only part of, highlight the starts with or contains option and type part of the name in the box.
Click the Search button at the bottom of the page.
By clicking view next to a user's name you will get the information this user agreed to publish in his or her User Information form.
You can specify to search only logged-in users.
You can also search users' comments and interests.
To send a user a message, click the e-mail address/username.
Allowing other Safe-mail users to get to know you
Example:
You want other users to be able to contact you on the basis of your background and interests.
It can be the beginning of a great friendship.

How?
Fill in your personal information. Remember, all the fields are optional.
You can control access to your personal information in each section via the Publish pop-up menu located at the head of each section.
Yes - means you want to publish the information in this section.
No - means you don't want to publish the information in this section.
List - means you want to publish the information only to certain people named in the Publish list section located at the bottom.
Click the Update button at the bottom of the page.
Keeping information about others in your Contacts list
Example:
You want to have updated information about your family members, friends and work related contacts.

How?
Click the New Address tab.
Fill in the name, e-mail address and any other piece of information you would like to be included.
Click the Save button.
If the person you are adding to your Contacts List is a Safe-mail user, you can click Load User Details to automatically load his or her published User-Info into your Contacts.
Sending your Contacts list to a different user
Example:
While you're on vacation your colleague is going to take care of your customers. You want your colleague to have the information that you have about them in your Contacts list.
Safe-mail enables you to export your whole Address Book or part of it to your colleague.

How?
Click the Export tab.
Fill in the address of the person to whom you would like to export your Address Book.
You may fill in your comments in the text area.
You may export your entire Address Book by checking the box next to "Nickname."
You may export selected entries by checking the boxes next to their names.
Click The Send button in order to export.
Receiving a Contacts list from a different user
Example:
You are asked by your colleague to take care of his customers while he goes on vacation. Their contact information is kept in his Contacts list.
Safe-mail enables you to receive your colleague's Contacts list or part of it.

How?
Click the Contacts button at the top of the screen.
Click the Import tab.
Select the address book you would like to import.
Select the addresses you would like to add to your address book.
Click the Import button and the additions will be made.
