Going away for a while? Specify an Auto Respond

Example:
The last time you went to visit Uzbekistan you came back to 45 messages from the same person. The first message was a pleasant one, "Will I see you at the town fair Monday night?" The second message, similar to the other 43, was in the form of "WHY AREN'T YOU ANSWERING ME????? Are you just ignoring me? Well, that's really obnoxious. I guess I won't be inviting you to my aunt's famous taste-the-pumpkins night." Once you returned from vacation you were able to clear it all up, but by the time you explained everything the above-mentioned pumpkin night was well over.
Now you're going back to Uzbekistan (the weather there is great) and you want to make sure that this doesn't happen again.
You can set up an Auto Respond that will tell everyone who writes you a message that you are away and won't be checking your mail. (There aren't too many Internet cafes in Uzbekistan.)

How?

  • Click the Settings button at the top of the screen.
  • Click the Auto Respond tab.
  • Specify the dates you want the Auto Respond to be active.
  • You may fill in the subject of the Auto Respond or leave it to be "Re: whatever subject they send you"
  • Change the respond text that appears in the Content box to suit your needs.
  • Click the Update button

$(Sender) will automatically fill in the name of the incoming mail's sender.

$(Date) will automatically fill in the date the incoming mail was sent on.

In the Subject field, $(Subject) will automatically fill in the subject of the incoming mail that will be responded to by the autorespond.
