An ordinary passport provides a person with two things; verification of identity and a means of entering a certain space (country). And so it is with Safe-mail™'s 'authentication' feature. It confirms some body's identity by displaying the name of the Authenticator on every e-mail they send and it also provides a means of entering an exclusive circle of individuals who are exchanging e-mail only from within their own membership.
The following example takes a group of London based syndicated investment managers who need to communicate equity share prices every day. They want an e-mailing system which is exclusive to them so that no messages from outside the group can penetrate the system and they have no intention of sending messages to people outside the group. It will be a system dedicated to their own internal use. They also want to ensure that no one will be able to hack into the system to steal their confidential information.
The first step is to nominate a group head. This person then Authenticates each person in the group using the [Send Authentication] function located under the main Authentication tab in the top level of the Safe-mail™ browser. With immediate effect, the authenticator's name will appear on all the Safe-mail™ messages which each group member sends. People receiving messages bearing the authenticator's name will therefore readily accept that the sender of the message is who they claim to be.
The next step is for each member of the group to adjust their setup to accept only e-mail from people authenticated by the group head. This is done by going to the Preferences tab on the top level of the Safe-mail™ browser and selecting the Mail Control sub-tab. Amongst a variety of options, this function allows you to accept Safe-mail™ only from people who are authenticated by named individuals. By inserting the name of the group's head in the appropriate field, only Safe-mail™ from those members of the group who have been authenticated by the group head will be accepted into the members' mail boxes.
Its possible to have more than one name in the Receive Safe-mailTM from the following named authenticators field. Extending our example, it so happens that there is a similar group of Tokyo based investment managers who need to communicate equity share prices with each other every day. They have implemented Safe-mailTM in the same way as the London group. They also need to exchange information with their London based associates. If the London group add the name of the Tokyo group head to the same field as their own group head, then they will then receive e-mail from their Tokyo friends as well. Similarly, if each of the Tokyo group members add the name of the London group head to the same field as their own group head, then they will also receive e-mail from their London associates.
This method of authentication thereby allows groups and sub-groups to quickly and easily build networks of e-mail communication which are dedicated to specified aims of pursuit; where each member can enjoy an exclusive environment focused on a single activity and uncluttered by external distractions or hard hitting advertisements.
And never forget, the security and privacy you get with Safe-mailTM is as good as it gets.
